Continuing our partnership with Target Style, this month we’re talking beauty. Specifically, we’re creating useful formulas for quickly and easily achieving the perfect look.

This time of year, I find myself comparing any function on my calendar to an evening on the couch with my cat and Netflix. Rarely does the former win.

Party in the Gold Coast at 7? How is this pragmatically preferable to staying inside and watching Cumberbatch as Sherlock for the eleventh time?

Time to shop for groceries? Can’t someone deliver my food while I’m watching Sherlock for the eleventh time?

Truth is, it’s cold. That’s obstacle 1. Secondly, a lot of work, considerably more than is needed in the summer, goes into looking presentable in the winter. My prep time before a date with the hubby in May is basically 10 minutes, and involves a uniform of sundresses and tinted face moisturizer. In December? More like 1 hour and 10 minutes because this, as everyone knows, is the season for glam.

Target challenged Chicagoings.com to simplify any routine with a few easy makeup ideas to follow equations. They made the suggestion, it was my job to do the math. Here’s what I came up with…

3 Easy Makeup Ideas for any Occasion

Gold Bronzer + Metallic Eyeshadow + Copper Lip = “Golden Girl” Date Night Look

Dinner in Logan Square means a fuss-free lip and bold eye, because no one wants to spend the evening reapplying lipstick after every drink and bite. This look forced me to step out of my comfort zone. Typically, I’d never do an all over monotone look. With these products, however, the final solution comes off more pure than prude.

Try:

Sonia Kashuk Sunkissed Pressed Bronzer in Golden (48). It’s a glitter-free compact of deep bronze and rich gold colors.

L’Oréal Infallible Eyeshadow in Eternal Sunshine (997). Intense color that lasts all day and won’t dance all over your face while you’re on the dancefloor.

CoverGirl Queen Collection Colorlicious Gloss in Copper Bliss (Q690). Reapply with precision, even without a compact, thanks to its handy applicator.

Purple Eye Color + Purple Lip + Contoured Cheeks = “Violet Femmes” Girls Night Out LookEasy Makeup Ideas

Everyone’s voted and tonight’s all about Karaoke in Lincoln Square! If you’re planning to (badly) cover Adele’s new song at the top of your lungs, be ready for your moment with a look that is anything but shy.

Try:

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Painted Purple (20). It’s a super saturated purple that promises not to fade, perfect for screeching through those octaves hour after hour.

Sonia Kashuk Shine Luxe Lip Color in Sheer Plum (28). First and foremost a moisturizer, this sheer color provides the right level of oomph without appearing cartoonish.

Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder by e.l.f. Master the art of contouring with this affordable, easy to use compact.

Cat Eye + Red Lip + Dramatic Eyeshadow = “Fiery Feline” Full Glam LookEasy makeup ideas

The makeup equivalent to stilettos, this look doesn’t mess around. It’s pulling out all the stops while remaining feminine and completely “beat from the floor to the clouds”.

Try:

NYX The Sex Bomb Femme Fatale Eyeshadow Palette (TSB01). Perfectly easy to throw in a bag for a weekend away, this compact has all the colors you need for that glam-on-the-go eye.

Maybelline Precise Liquid Liner in Black (110). Even if you think you’ve got the cat eye down to a science, there are still days when symmetry seems impossible. This tool helps to create an intense look with surgical precision.

CoverGirl Queen Collection Colorlicious Gloss in Watermelon Splash (Q650). Nothing says “grown woman” better than a well applied red lip!

Which combination will you try this season?
