Chicago fashion week is amazingly unique in that it purposely focuses, not on the global fashion houses, but on the indie designers sketching and stitching their art right here in Chicago. It’s an opportunity for newbies to showcase their talent and for the well-established creators to further solidify their fashion footprint. Entering its ninth year, Chicago Fashion Week makes its home in Millennium Park with a series of fashion events and runway shows. Here are two highlights I’m personally looking forward to this weekend:
The Art of Fashion Runway ShowMillennium Park Chase Promenade North 201 E Randolph Street, Chicago IL Friday, October 18 6pm VIP Reception/ 7:30pm Runway Show Tickets are Sold Out
I’m SO excited about this one! 10 looks from 10 designers, including Calvin Tran, Hector-Javier MonArrez, Lily & Migs (co-creator Jennifer Barron is a Chicago native), and Shernett Swaby – to name a few of my favorite!
FashionChicago Shopping EventMillennium Park Chase Promenade North Saturday, October 19 – Sunday, October 20 Free
If you love Chicago’s indie fashion scene but are unfamiliar with who’s who in the industry, shop this event and find a new favorite. Dressing rooms will be provided as you peruse the offerings of over 30 local, indie, designers in the fields of apparel and accessories.Check out Fashion Focus Chicago and more events occurring this week: http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/dca/supp_info/fashion_focus_chicago0.html https://www.facebook.com/FashionFocusChicago
