Street Style: Top Looks from Lollapalooza 2015

How to Dress for Lollapalooza

Chicago may not be thought of as a fashion capital compared to greats like Paris and New York, but for three days each summer we morph into an undeniable festival fashion mecca during Lollapalooza. The three-day music festival is one of the biggest in the U.S. With headliners like Florence + the Machine, Tyler the Creator, Kid Cudi, A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, and even Paul McCartney, it goes without saying that the diversity of the music is reflected in the style of the crowd. What trends didn’t surprise me? Crop tops, denim cut off shorts, and fedoras. What was surprising? Fanny packs are back. Yes. Fanny packs.

Here I’ve gathered my favorite looks and asked folks about their style inspiration and which performers they were excited to see most of all.

As in years past, fedoras and big brim hats were the go-to for chic chicks avoiding sun burn. I cannot get over the details of this outfit, from the gold sandals to the scarf wrapped around her bag – and the sunnies. Perfection!

With the temp each day reaching above 90 degrees, I loved seeing girls tuck their hair under creatively wrapped scarves. Chicago’s own style expert, The Sassy Peach, kept her perfectly purple locks under her signature Porkpie for a great festival look.

Just because the air was muggy and the ground was filthy didn’t mean ladies took the day off. Check out this doll’s braid complimenting her flowy frock and ballet slippers. Yes ma’am!

Headwear is here to stay but Lollapalooza proved that the big feathered (and possibly inappropriate) trend is fading. Instead, style mavens opted for pieces that rang true to their personal style. I love this girl’s simple headpiece…
