A list of places at which we plan to laugh and loiter and lollygag until next Monday.

The Music Box 70MM Film Festival
When
: Until Saturday, July 15th
Where: Music Box Theater, 3733 N. Southport Ave, Chicago
Why: See your favorite films like never before! 70mm film is hard to come by but offers one of the highest resolutions possible for projectors, which means the best detail and image quality. (The standard motion picture film format is only 35 mm.) Music Box Theater has commissioned a few classics, and recent blockbusters, in 70 mm film for your viewing pleasure. Here’s what’s on deck for this week:
– Sleeping Beauty: Monday, July 10th at 7 p.m
– Kong: Skull Island: Monday, July 10th at 9:15 p.m. and Tuesday July 11th at 4:00 p.m.
– West Side Story: Wednesday, July 12th at 7:30 p.m.

Book Launch: Trappest Beer Travels at Publican Anker
When: Monday, July 10th (TODAY) between 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Where: Anker, 1576 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago
Why: Beer lovers be thrilled! This, the first beer event at Anker, will feature a beer journal of sorts, a book chronologically tracking the history of breweries kept by Trappist monks. It’s more exciting than I’m making it sound. Trust! Also, bites and brews will be offered gratis.

Actually the duo has come a long way from their first pan-chart smashing single. Les Nubians are currently recording new material in Detroit for their up-coming album, set to drop later this year. The Up Close and Personal Tour is a chance for fans to experience Les Nubians in an intimate setting, listening to the classics as well as stories about their history and voyage as world renown Afropean artists plus what to expect for the very near future!

Windy City Smokeout
When: Friday, July 14th – Sunday, July 16th
Where: 560 W. Grand Ave, Chicago
Why: Even if you’re not big on country music, I suggest you try this BBQ glazed festival, big on southern drank, grub, and contemporary country music. Last year’s highlights included a pop-up bar by Three Dots and a Dash, Lobster Rolls, a sea of draft beer, and the best ribs prepared fresh from the south’s top restaurateurs! This is where I plan to be this weekend!
