Lollapalooza is over. Yes, we’re sad too. Not only because the three-day long go hard or go home music festival has come to a close but because nothing says summer’s almost over like the last day of Lolla. We’re all one day closer to Canada Goose jackets and fur hats. One day closer to slushy commutes and numb blistered faces. I’m not ready. We still have a few more festivals to get in and a lot more sunshine coming our way.

Chicagoings is using today to reflect on one of the best weekends of the summer with photos from the big event and aftershows around town.

First up, Gary Clark Jr. Heard of him? He’s kind of a big deal. The president loves him. More importantly, so does Beyoncé. With his authentic sound and honest lyrics, the passionate musician more than deserves all of the attention he’s receiving. Gary graced Chicago’s House of Blues last Friday with a set that included cut to the heart melodies and smooth vocal crooning.

Opening for Clark, Black Pistol Fire, a rock duo from Canada, made a lasting impression on a group full of soul supporters. These two came out ready to rock, touching everyone in the crowd either physically or metaphorically with hyper guitar riffs and bombastic energy.

It was an unforgettable night.
