Letter from the Editor, June 2016: Summertime Chi

Letter from the Editor - Chicagoings - Kari Herrera

This month is brought to you by the letter “O” for OPTIONS.

During the thick of winter, finding things to do for our events calendar can take me hours. It’s harder than pulling teeth. It’s harder than pulling anteater teeth. Because anteaters don’t have teeth. See? I know stuff.

Fortunately, those days are behind us. Today, right now at this very second, we are living in the Chicago we all tell friends from out of town about, the Chicago that’s so different in the summer. This is the time of year when I don’t want to quit my job, sell my apartment, and move to Belize. This time of year, anything can happen.

So if all the birds chipping and vitamin D raining from the sky isn’t enough to get you out of the house, you’re probably a loser. But that can’t be because you’re reading this and our readers are not losers. You’re just in a rut. Yes. Yes, that’s it. Get out of your funk by challenging yourself to attend at least one outdoor event each week. Music festivals, yacht races, food truck parties, and coffee crawls all count, by the way. And if none of those things interest you click here for more ideas.

See you outside!
