When planning our wedding this year I found the resources available for reliable vendor reviews and personal experiences to be limited. Sure, there are plenty of magazines and even a few online journals out there but these often cater to big name sponsors leaving out the many ‘little guys’ who are just as creditable – if not more so! Chicago is full of boutiques, chefs, stylists, and tailors – many of which have a long history of excellence and dependability. Why was it so hard to find the right one for me?! In the end, I found the ‘little guys’ treated me with more fairness and humanity than many of the larger brands and offered a more customizable product. I only wish someone had done the legwork on my behalf, finding these companies and saving me some much needed time (and sleep)!
As my love for these smaller businesses grew I wanted to spread the word about my positive experiences and add to the stellar reputation of the vendors I worked with, and so Chicagoings.com was born. But why stop at wedding vendors? Since your wedding is only one day, and we all have places to be before and after saying ‘I do’, Chicagoings.com gives an unbiased perspective of local businesses (not just bridal boutiques!) and the customers to which they cater. Our reader values the importance of individuality and creativity. I created this site as a platform to showcase our own neighborhoods and the culture of our city.
