ACQUIRED TASTE CULT MOVIE NIGHT: PURPLE RAIN

Why: In honor of the late great Purple One, Scott Lucas of Local H is hosting a special screening of Purple Rain at Acquired Taste, Virgin Hotels Chicago’s Cult Movie Night. It’s free and starts Upstairs at Virgin Hotels Chicago at 7:00pm. Join Virgin Hotels in honoring Prince and his classic film over snacks and beer provided by Half Acre.

STYLE BY CHICAGO HUMANITIES FESTIVAL

Exploring how style shapes who we are as individuals and what we value across cultures, CHF is making the bold statement, “style matters.” Confirmed presenters for the 2016 Spring Festival include Huffington Post co-founder and editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington, New York Times bestseller Karl Ove Knausgaard, Golden Globe and Emmy Winner Mary-Louise Parker, f̶a̶s̶h̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶l̶e̶g̶e̶n̶d̶ ̶I̶r̶i̶s̶ ̶A̶p̶f̶e̶l̶, acclaimed photographer Sally Mann, Pulitzer-Prize winning critic Margo Jefferson, National Book Award winner and bestselling author Andrew Solomon, designer and dresser of the First Lady, Maria Pinto, and Second City legend and Cheers actor, George Wendt.

James Beard Eats Week

When: April 22nd -May 2nd

2016 NFL Draft

When: Thursday, April 28th – Saturday, April 30th

Where: Grant Park, 337 E. Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601

Why: This April, the NFL welcomes the newest members to the NFL family when the NFL Draft returns to Chicago from Thursday, April 28 through Saturday, April 30. Several components of the Draft will be housed in our historic theatre while a three-day football festival for fans of all ages, Draft Town presented by Oikos Triple Zero, will expand outside to Grant Park and Congress Plaza for a 900,000 square foot celebration of the Draft.

No tickets are required for Draft Town; however, a limited number of tickets will be available to fans to go inside both the Auditorium Theatre and Selection Square Driven by Hyundai, within Draft Town, for each day of the Draft. More information can be found at NFL.com.

Baconfest

When: Saturday, April 30th – Sunday, May 1st

Where: UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL 60607

Why: Baconfest Chicago is a nationally renowned, locally beloved festival dedicated to America’s favorite cured meat: bacon! At Baconfest, Chicago’s best chefs concoct and serve brilliant bacon dishes to thousands of passionate bacon lovers. Liquor sponsors provide cocktails, beer and wine designed to complement a bacon meal. Bacontrepreneurs and bacon-friendly brands exhibit their wares and connect with our bacon community. A panel of judges bestows the Golden Rasher awards on chefs and guests for achievement in the bacon arts. It is a raucous, rockin’ good time for everybody involved.
