Know what has the power to instantly improve your mood, brighten your skin, and boost your health? No, not tequila (actually, I may have to test that theory…) but the sun.
There’s no denying the beauty that is summer and springtime Chi. Finally pardoned from our wintery incarceration by the brightest star in the sky, we gleefully run in the street, smile for no reason, wave at strangers, and drown our laughter in gallons of Italian lemonade (Ciao, Mario’s!). I love my city.
Whatever you’re doing to show your appreciation for warm Chicago days, we’ve got your guide for turning all the way past up this season. Each week this month, we will feature one amazing way to live in the moment before the next Monday. Take in the summer a week at a time with a new adventure or event. Some will be free, some will cost a penny or two, all will be amazing – and distinctive to the summertime Chi experience. Miss a week and you may find yourself taking off of work just to catch up. Which…doesn’t sound like a bad thing, actually.
Rock the Boat
This week, commute by boat. For just $3 the folks at Chicago Water Taxi will save you a seat in the most relaxing carpool, um, boatpool the Loop has to offer. Metra riders, skip the rush hour crowds and frustration by taking a water taxi from Ogilve or Union Station to the loop. It amazes me how many Chicago natives take this little treasure for granted.
If your change is more bank than chump, reserve an evening for the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s boat tour. For about $38, hop aboard Chicago’s First Lady near Navy Pier and enjoy the best skyscraper tour in the city. Each tour guide is certified by CAF and knows their stuff.
Use hashtag #Chicagoingsboat this week while posting your pics from the Chicago River or Lake Michigan. A follow up post will feature you guys’ best shots!
