Devoted fans of the Chicago Bulls are straining to understand the conundrum that is Derrick Rose. Even with recent injuries officially deemed “minor”, Rose’s return to the court seems to always be just a game away. Where is the 2011 MVP amid his now standard routine of missed games and terribly unapologetic press conferences? Is there still a star under that suit? Is D. Rose still dedicated to the game?

At a recent press conference, Rose himself infamously explained, “I know a lot of people get mad when they see me sit out or whatever… I’m thinking about long term. I’m thinking about when I’m done with basketball, having graduations to go to, having meetings to go to. I don’t want to be in my meetings all sore.” Needless to say, that didn’t go over so well with a lot of folks.

Neither did his talks of tunnel vision toward free agency - by the way, his contract doesn’t expire until 2017. Let’s continue.
