A Heart that Breaks and Flutters is a compilation of sixteen original essays that encompass the range of an ordinary American existence. Set to the backdrop of 1990’s Midwestern suburbia, Corday recounts her failure to embody simple Girl Scout virtues, confesses to years of “Math Unreadyness,”and describes her magnetic awe toward shiny red bubble-wrap. Says the author, “The book is really a snapshot of childhood, identity, and an illustration of the way a child’s thoughts merge into adult ideologies; it’s a literary cocktail with equal parts humor, storytelling, and heartbreak.”
