To the marathon runners who have prepared vigorously for this weekend, we wish you the very best! Aside from the big race this Sunday, here are a few things to do in Chicago this weekend. Most of them are on the other end of the health spectrum.
Food Truck Rally
When: Friday, October 10th 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Where: Daley Plaza, 50 W Washington St
Why you may want to attend: “Ten food trucks will provide both lunchtime and after work dining options as well as a designated area for beer and wine for purchase from Goose Island Beer Co.” These aren’t your no name side of the road food trucks. Expect gourmet edibles and a variety of fares. Personally, I recommend anything from Beavers Coffee and Donuts. Their fresh donuts are melt in your mouth delicious.

Windy City BBQ Classic
When: Saturday, October 11th 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Where: Soldier Field, South Lot 1410 Museum Campus Dr
Why you may want to attend: Boasting “no gas, no electricity, real BBQ” the Windy City BBQ Classic is a real smoker’s competition. 40 teams will compete; 40 judges will weigh in on whose ‘Q is the tastiest. Live blues will help add even more flavor to the fest.

The Wicker Park Collective Warehouse Sale
When: Saturday, October 11th – Sunday, October 12th 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Chop Shop, 2033 W North Ave (near the Blue Line “Damen” Station)
Why you may want to attend: Why wouldn’t you?! Wicker Park is arguably the best boutique shopping neighborhood in Chicago. In an effort to clear out last season’s inventory, the shops have come together to host a huge warehouse sale this weekend. If you need more incentive, Chicagoings’ favorite AstroWifey will be there serving up frame worthy nail art. Oh, and there’ll be drinks.
