Just as a restaurant never prepares Mom’s best dishes spot on, big name jewelers never seems to create pieces with the amount of love and attention to detail as an independent jeweler.
Am I reaching a bit with this analogy? I realize not every mother is a Grade A chef but please bear with me here. Kay, Jared, and the others are all the same. Personal style is not a pool into which they dip. A corporation subscribes to profit over artistic expression. In contrast, indie jewelers, like Bella Colletta, craft beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry with the care of an artist. That’s why we love them!
In time for winter wedding/party season, catch Bella Colletta’s trunk show this Saturday, December 14th, at Edith Hart from 11 am to 6 pm.
We asked Christina Bock, the artist behind Bella Colletta, why she believes her jewelry line is the gem of Chicago.
CHRISTINA: The apologetically edgy style of Bella Colletta definitely sets [it apart]. I combine earthy natural stones with hard raw metals and throw some vintage finds in there to make a rock-glam look that everyone can wear.
CHICAGOINGS: What type of style does your typical client project?
CHRISTINA: There is no one Bella Colletta girl. I have clients that are in their 70’s, I have clients that are in there teens and everyone in between. I make a little something for everyone! I will say this, if you like bold statement pieces you’re my kind of girl!
CHICAGOINGS: Which is your favorite piece of the moment?
CHRISTINA: My favorite piece right now is the Druzy Bib!
CHICAGOINGS: Aside from the Trunk Show at Edith Hart this weekend, where else can we find Bella Colletta?
CHRISTINA: Find Bella Colletta at Edith Hart in Bucktown, Stella Blue in Lake View, Singalila Gallery in Libertyville, Rad and Refined in LA, and on the Purely Fashion Application which is a new fashion app for IPhone that allows you to purchase pieces directly from us. Purely is currently having a pop up shop at the 900 N Michigan Shops on the 4th floor until Christmas eve!
