A natural beauty expo packed full of goodies, 19th century fashion displayed beside 21st century sensibilities, and a midweek underground fashion show; here are a few of the indie fashion events I’m looking forward to this week:
Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity
The Art Institute of Chicago
Through Sunday, September 29th
The relationship between fashion and art in the 19th century may seem like an aloof subject, but much effort has been put into making this exhibit a relatable favorite for the fashion focused. If you haven’t had the opportunity, do yourself a favor and check out Impressions & Fashion (Tumblr) now. A viral marketing campaign, the fashion blog provides a look at 21st century fashion from the point of view of a surprisingly witty and likable 19th century Parisian. Special viewings of the exhibit are hosted on select Saturdays through September 28th.

Chicago Curated
The Underground
10 pm. Thursday, September 19th
Good times for a great cause. As part of Underground’s style series, three indie designers will be featured in a fashion show to benefit Charity 4 Life – a Chicago based non-profit devoted to rehabilitating homeless children.
