I’ve got a pot full of feelings bubbling inside my being about this cold. One part of me knows it’s time to man up and brave the elements like everyone else. The other part of me is just really sick of feet length puffer coats and snow boots. Remember summer dresses and strappy sandals? I know you do.
January Favorites
Fortunately, not every gift from Papa Vortex is worth re-gifting to the South and there are still some reasons to love the winter in Chicago. With subzero temps and blizzards, our favorite boutiques have been closing shop and offering huge online flash sales! I finally picked up this black romper by Cameo from Edith Hart when the Wicker Park fav’s online site offered 50% off of its entire collection for a few hours last week. (WOOT WOO!) I’ve seen similar cold weather closeouts from Sofia Boutique.
Coffee shops are a sanctuary from the slick. A friend introduced me to Lovely: A Bake Shop in Noble Square. Here I had the best coconut macaroon I’ve ever had IN LIFE! Definitely add them to the list of top espresso shops!
Lastly, so as not to lose my femme façade under winter layers, I rely on the color red – as in lipstick. The shades offered by Chicago’s Morgan Marie Beauty are luxurious, and look great with a red nail and bag or other accessory. The black dress I picked up from Sir and Madame (Hyde Park popup) this month.
What are your favorites from the month? This is Restaurant Week and there’s plenty of opportunity to still find a new favorite before February.
