Slow and Low

“We never follow the crowd. We choose to move ahead of the curve.” – Kathryn Shah for French champagne house Veuve Clicquot

Veuve Clicquot brought its mail truck tour to Chicago last weekend and we met up with their crew at Parson’s Chicken and Fish in Logan Square for Jenga, drank, and fried chicken, Saturday night. The luxury brand, which is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) group, downplayed its aristocratic roots in the eatery’s backyard beach barbeque setting.

Parson’s, by the way, has amazing food and they love hosting “grill outs” on their sand covered patio. Not sure why it took me so long to visit the Logan Square favorite, but we’ll definitely be back soon.

The night ended with inclusive bottle service and an impromptu Jenga tournament. Good. Times.

Sunday, the Chicago Urban Art Society and the Chicago Lowrider Preservation Project celebrated a different type of luxury. Skilled craftsmen brought their best work to the strip in Pilsen for the 4th annual Slow & Low: Community Lowrider Festival.

Here are the best snaps from both events.

Special thanks to Veuve Clicquot and the PR team at LaForce-Stevens for hosting Chicagoings at Parson’s Chicken and Fish.
