DIY Happy Hour

A Paloma Cocktail

As pizza, macaroni, and any food out of Wisconsin has proven for decades, some things are better when they’re cheesy. For this week’s DIY happy hour, we’re getting really, really cheesy. Buckle up!

Confession: Our family has a thing for homemade board games. My husband and I will sometimes schedule an entire evening to sit on the living room floor with a pile of magic markers and a stack of poster board, making games. When finished, we like to lure our friends over with promises of cocktails and bites until, completely caught unawares, they’re already an hour deep into a heated game of Pictaboo (it’s a hybrid version of Pictionary and Taboo we created… Told ya. Cheesy).

Yes, it’s all super-duper corny but it’s also a great way to unwind after a stressful workweek. Plus, Chicago’s got some great spots for happy hour, but it’s nice to save some cash and keep the fiesta at home sometimes. Prepare some appetizers, mix a few cocktails, and let your geek flag fly.

Feeling inspired? Here are a few DIY happy hour cocktails and treats to set the mood. Of course, they were all mixed with deliciously smooth Hornitos® Tequila Plata.
