{EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW} A Profitable Craft: An Interview with LadieLoops Owner Andrea Lockhart

By  |

In line with today’s theme of cozy fabrics and fashionable knits, meet Chicago designer Andrea Lockhart and her specialty knitwear brand, LadieLoops. I had the pleasure of meeting Andrea at an art event held by Redgi Woods this year. What impressed me most was her undying tenacity. I love a persistent dreamer. While some may occasional knit or sew from time to time, Andrea has been tirelessly perfecting her craft for the last 10 years and now is reaping the benefits. LadieLoops offers uniquely beautiful knit accessories created from only the finest fabrics. Her Nikia Crown Neck Scarf is a best seller and, with its regal design and soft feel, a great example of what her knitwear line offers. Kind enough to share some of her story with Chicagoings Daily, here’s what Andrea had to say about LadieLoops.

Andrea Lockhart

On her background

I was born and raised in Chicago! This is my home. I studied at the Illinois Art Institute and in July of 2010 began designing. For a long time I put my needles down and took a break. Now, however, after picking them back up, I’m not stopping!

On how she ensures the quality of each piece

Each item is created from only the finest natural fibers. My pieces feature, but are not limited to, superwashed wools, organic cotton, and cashmere. Of course, all items are handmade.

Where can we find LadieLoops

Check out my website www.ladieloops.com and continue to find me at local vendor events. Right now we’re working on creating our online shop so look for that in the future.

Words of advice for other designers and independent business owners

I know it’s cliché but don’t stop dreaming. No matter what, don’t stop dreaming!

Check the brand’s website for upcoming vendor events and online sales.
