“Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine, a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy.” Benjamin Franklin
Lately, a warm night in Chicago is as elusive as an Oprah sighting.
Funny, both rarities seem to prompt irrational behavior. Only one, however, calls for outdoor drinks and eats.
The MCA ‘Does it for the Vine’
Last Friday, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago hosted a wine tasting like no other. “Around the World in 80 Sips”, sponsored by Bottlenotes, featured reds and whites from all over the world. Additionally, guests were offered hors d’oeuvres and even Goose Island beers.
Bottles were not sold on location. Translation: No pressure to purchase on the spot! The museum’s lovely courtyard invited partakers to mingle under the moon during one of the year’s most tepid evenings.
I highly recommend this event for the quality of wines offered, the superb organization involved, and the gorgeous location – Chicago’s MCA. I’ll be sure to post a warning next time this indoor tasting is in town.
