#NOFOMO: Getting Swimsuit Ready with Target

Welcome to the month before spring, also known as February. All of winter’s sins are catching up to me like rival runners in a race. Ordering takeout for the past six nights, gaining fast. Skipping the gym in favor of Netflix and chill, hot on my tail. Now’s a pretty good time to level with who we are and how we see our body. Again, I’m mainly speaking to myself.

Ever skipped a day at the beach fearful of friends seeing you in your swimsuit? I sure hope not. These days, everyone is embracing their body and focusing more on being healthy rather than being supermodel-esque. Still, I’ll admit it’s happened to me once or twice or three times or – whatever, who’s counting? Fear of missing out is real and I’m not trying to catch it this year. Nothing is worse than seeing my friends live it up online without me. Nothing. Okay, maybe another month of winter would be worse but that’s my point. Warmer days are coming, and when they arrive I want to be ready.

Of course, the most effective way to preemptively treat FOMO is to prepare for possible hurdles ahead of time. Maybe I’ll slow down on the takeout from here on out. Maybe. Also, I could wean myself off of whatever show I’m binging on at the moment (I honestly can’t even remember) and hit a ballet class or two. Sure. Beyond the fundamental health improvements, there’s also the matter of beach style. Namely, swimwear.

Finding my Fit

There’s a secret to shopping for the perfect swimsuit and it involves never going at it alone. Always drag a friend along, kicking and screaming if need be; just make sure there’s a second opinion by your side. Someone who’ll give it to you straight, but also sprinkled with a little sugah. You know which friend. Grab that one.

Another option: Target.com is offering free shipping and free returns, which is a great excuse to order a bunch of suits and try them on at home. Make a party out of it! Invite over some friends, everyone brings suits they’ve ordered, mix some drinks, and find a fit that works. Return the ones that don’t.

I chose the suits in this article because I know I’ll feel comfortable (i.e. not overexposed) while wearing them to the beach or on a boat — wherever. No FOMO fo’ me.
